About this winery

Clos Triguedina is the cradle of the Baldès family. It is a heritage loaded with stories of men. Thus the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela used to eat there (me trigo de dina means in Occitan I look forward to dinner). For their part, the Baldès have built Clos Triguedina by passing on their know-how, emotions and passions from father to son. Product notes

Grown on the clay-limestone terraces overlooking the Lot Valley, the Cahors terroir offers Malbec the ideal balance of warmth, drainage, and minerality. These deep, well-exposed soils allow the grape to fully express its aromatic richness, structure, and freshness, resulting in wines that are both powerful, elegant, and full of character.

Production notes

Mechanized harvest. Classic vinification in stainless steel tanks. Use of conventional yeasts so as not to delay fermentation. Fermentation for 20 to 30 days. Malolactic fermentation before Christmas following the harvest. Aging in stainless steel tanks for 18 months.

Tasting notes

Jean-Luc Baldès’ Malbec du Clos, from the Cahors AOC, reveals a deep ruby color with violet highlights. The generous nose opens with ripe red fruit aromas (cherry, raspberry, redcurrant), enhanced by hints of violet and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is lively on the attack, then round and full-bodied, with smooth, well-integrated tannins. The fruity character lingers through to a fresh, persistent finish. Accessible and expressive, this Malbec is a great introduction to the Cahors terroir. Perfect for sharing around generous, convivial meals, it pairs beautifully with warm canapés, grilled meats, cured meats, and semi-hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C to fully enjoy its aromatic potential.
