About this winery

On the edge of the Barolo appellation, you'll come across the Rivetto estate, 23 captivating hectares of planted vines, orchards and gardens. It remains committed to biodynamic agriculture and is currently the first Demeter-certified producer in the Barolo and Barbaresco zones. Enrico Rivetto is extremely committed to polyculture as a method of stabilizing and naturally enriching the vineyard.

Product notes

A marriage of three parcels from the estate in Serralunga d'Alba: Cru San Bernardo (north-west exposure), Cru Serra (west exposure) and Cru Manocino (south-east exposure).

Production notes

The vines were planted in 1975 or earlier. Hand-harvested. Aged for at least 30 months in large Hungarian and Slavic oak casks with a capacity of 3,000 L (botti), followed by one year in bottle.

Tasting notes

Slightly garnet-red color. Earthy nose with wild red berries, undergrowth, wild mushrooms, licorice, cloves, black pepper, cocoa and cedar wood. Mouth between power and finesse; compact attack with vigorous tannins in the early years, marked acidity slowly integrating, and a fine texture with the contribution of herbs and wild berries on the very ample finish.

August 2023 (Vintage 2019)

It ages in both Hungarian and Slavonian oak casks for two years. You get some of the more powerful or weighty elements of the Nebbiolo playbook with black cherry, iron ore and dried rose...

June 2023 (Vintage 2019)

...Pretty nose of strawberries, hazelnuts, vanilla and neroli. It’s creamy and full-bodied, with fine, polished tannins. Lovely balance. A little tight at the end. Try in 2026...
