About this winery

Langa is our territory, where our roots date back to the 19th century. Cascina Penna-Currado is our family project, which involves us completely, a dream come true, on a human scale, with an eye toward the future. We are located on the Serralunga d'Alba ridge, within a farmhouse that exudes history and beauty, fundamental elements that have been preserved and brought to light.

Product notes

San Sebastiano, Monforte d'Alba. Aged 15 to 65 years, the vineyards surround a chapel dedicated to Saint Sebastian, covering the south, east and west slopes of a charming little hamlet.

Production notes

Thanks to the altitude and cool breezes in this area near Monforte d’Alba, the Nebbiolo grapes ripen slowly and gradually until late in the season, ideally paving the way for the development of rich aromas and fine tannins. Nebbiolo thrives in vineyards with significant temperature variations and cooler nights, so the conditions here give rise to outstanding phenolic ripeness. Five days of cold maceration are followed by 15 days of simple, traditional and non-invasive primary fermentation, then 24 days of postfermentation submerged-cap maceration. The malolactic fermentation is spontaneous. After a period of 12 months of barrel ageing, the wine is bottled the following spring.

Tasting notes

A deep garnet-red robe. On the nose, aromas of raspberries, cherries, and wild strawberries give way to a more complex finish with notes of rose and violet. The palate is silky and elegant, with touches of crisp red fruit and citrus. Silky, enveloping tannins blend with lively acidity, creating a perfect balance that pleasantly prolongs the finish. Pairs well with veal chop with mushrooms.
